01/24/05: Which desktop to use?

Here's a cute comparison of a few desktops from Geekblog. The author explains Gnome, KDE, OS X, and Windows as if they were your girlfriends.

KDE is the sensible girlfriend. When she gets dressed up, she looks great, but she generally prefers a simple, unassuming look.

I wonder what he would say about my favorite, XFce.

Thanks for the trackback. I didn't mention Xfce because Mandrake's packages were poorly implemented. I don't want to judge a DE based on a broken installation. My mom is a Gnome user, and I thought about switching her to Xfce for performance reasons. She really benefits from the Gnome HIG, so I'm hoping much of that will transfer to Xfce by virtue of it being based on GTK. Perhaps I'll try Mandrake's Xfce 4.2.0 test packages later to see if they've fixed any quirks.
